Apple and Pear Pancake Recipe

IT'S FRIDAY!!! I've actually... sad and ashamed to admit.. I've missed looking at the above screen whilst I've been busy this whole week!! MADNESS!!!...

Normancook, this is all your fault!!

Ms Tinymous and her friends and Boy are all going to come down tonight to have dinner at Grandma Kimchi with us tonight!!...

I'm so excited!!.. The prospect of a bitch fest and Korean food has got me all fidgity through class today...

And yes!! I'm done with the class.... I wish the same could be said for the assignments...14 bloody units! And the class only got us to complete 2 units!! Which means I have another 12 units to go (4 of which are training sessions to be performed of a qualified TAA assessor)...

Everyone with me now... *SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*

So last day of class... I decided to take Adam Sandler, Scotty and 1 half of Steve Martin down to the local IGA's...

When I used to work, they had a 1/4 roast chicken with any two sides for $4.99!!

So I told the boys about it, and they tagged along on our "date"!.. Price has gone up a bit, but one shouldn't complain... the 1/4 roast now comes with 3 sides for $5.45!! If you buy half a roast chicken with sides, you pay $6.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How amazing is that!!.. I love IGAs!!!

Last day of class, you can sort of tell everyone is in a bit of a festive mood... After I "broke-up" with Adam Sandler, I was kindly lifted up and tossed over his shoulder whilst giggling like a crazy lunatic!!... Mind you, this man has just had a baby boy (9 months) with another one on the way... !! Talk about mature minded adults!!

Anyway, classes aside, I'm quite sad to say goodbye to the fun interaction. The group that we had was amazingly friendly and everyone got along with each other... minus 1 scary weirdo.. but we shall ignore that...

Anyways....

The Boy decided to make me surprise pancakes last night!!

He took 1 apple and 1 pear (I know the apple was a Granny Smith, I'm not sure what the pear was) and grated it down...

Next was, flour, self raising flour, sugar, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg...

The he whisked the egg... it's really hard to take pictures when he's cooking.. he doesn't stop for me to take nice shots...

So I'm often forced to take action shots, or skip the shots altogehter!!!

Mix it together in a great big melting pot, big enough to stir and show the world what we've got, keep it stirring for a hundred years or more... churning out coffee coloured people by the scoreeeee... (I'm not even sure if those are the real lyrics!)

Each pancake uses only about 1/4 cup of the mixture... (Use Canola Oil)!

Flip!! Beautiful!!

Ta-dah!!!!!!!

I apologise... I've only just realised that there wasn't a final shot of the pancakes being served.. and believe me, there was a stack!!

You can tell that I've been eating and nibbling at the edges, whilst he makes another one =)))))

It had a very beautiful soft, fluffy texture and if you chew slowly, you can really taste bits of the apple and pears!! Absolutely devine!!

I had it by itself, without at honey or other condiments... Wonderfully sinful!!

Simple Stir-Fry Vermicelli Noodles Recipe

The last couple of days when I was walking come from the station, I noticed a shiny metallic thing up on a beautiful tree.

I've been wanting to take a picture of it, and as you can see from the above, it's actually a shiny kettle up on the tree... It's really artsy and beautiful... (to me in is anyways)

Things we did in class today.

Draw lots of pictures... Ahh... feels like I'm back in school drawing "Peta Minda" or Mind Maps!!

Came home, really drained again. Thinking of putting words into pictures is a really tiring job!! 0_0

Decided to make a really quick stir-fry rice noodle (mihun, bee hoon), whatever you want to call it.

Started by heating up some garlic and shallots in the hot pan.

Then putting, chili, ginger and lemongrass.

Throw in some chicken and stir-fry.

Add in the rice noodles (Which was prepared earlier by soaking in cold water to soften it)

Add in the veggies (I think I used Choy Sum)

Fry and omelette at the end and decorate as you wish.

Garnish with deep fried shallots!

NOTE:

I have since remembered it's called VERMICELLI!!

Salty Roasted Pork Recipe

This is what we learnt to do in class today... Origami frogs and paper planes!! Woot!!

Actually...no, but they were fun ice-breakers and training tools...

I'm sooooo buggered... I can't believe how hard it is to adjust to the 9-5pm routine.. I know I've already mentioned it, but... WOW... it's tiring... I can't remember how I managed to do this whilst I was working...

Completely brain dead, I came home to prepare dinner.

I was planning on making siu yuk, but somehow, my brain and movement coordination went out the door, and I made really Salty Roasted Pork... (which shall be used in the next dish).

However, to make salty pork.

You need pork belly.

Rub salt and Chinese 5 spice powder onto the piggy.

Place on baking tray.

And then, I have no idea why, I sprinkled sea salt on top of it!!... Obviously my brain died...

This is the result... It wasn't actually too bad, as we had it with rice and vegies.. but it was salty!!

Spoiled

Spoiled. 1 word. I am.. spoiled...

Upset upon reading Harry Potter for the zillionth time and grumpy about the ending.. (even though I've read it before)... and not wanting to disturb me...

The Boy decided, yet again to take matters into his own hands.

Right now he's in the kitchen cooking Vietnamese Pork Chops (which I might post tmrw).

The entree dish was Hot and Sour Soup with Fresh prawns...

Served with rice, we had sliced pork, choy sum and silken tofu...

Edamame and chargrilled sliced pork served with lemon juice...

Dessert ... poached pear with Cinnamon, Raisins and Nutmeg...

I'm so tired... I've forgotten how it is to wake up early, go to work... (or in my case this week, go to class)...

Where on earth did I find the energy to go to work and cook and clean?? Where do people find it??

I'm exhausted.. as I sit here and laze and type this out, I've already cooked rice and prepared all the ingredients for the Boy.

Hungry... cold... and weary of another day of class tomorrow... *SIGH*...

The class isn't actually that bad. I just like to whinge!
