Golden Dragon Palace @ Doncaster, Victoria

Woke up early to start baking Banana Bread for their royal Highness's... the Boy had already left early as he had to go service the car...

My Banana Bread didn't turn out as great as I wanted it to... or as delicious as the last time I did it... I don't know where I went off... But the Royal Highness's liked it and they finished up their servings!

I take that as a good sign!

After an extremely LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Distraction... Thanks Boys. It was hard work!!! (I am being extremely sarcastic here!)...

We set off as planned (after calling and apologising in my mangled canto) to Golden Dragon Palace...

Now.. I've written about this place before but haven't done a proper review for them.

And somehow.. the second time round felt like a let down... You know how when you have something really good once.. and then when you next return to it, it's not as Fantastic as you remembered it to be?

WELL, that's how it was with me for this occasion.

The restaurants lay-out.. they have massive vases all around their area.

We sat there the first time we came here. See how massive the chairs are? They're really heavy and hard to drag on the carpet.

The MUST have dish... "Wu Kok" delicious!!

Fish ball curry (Unknown to me, BFF's boy is not a great fan of pork - which made it really hard for a yumcha session)

I didn't actually try this, I had tastier morsels to devour!

Glutinous Rice.. this was so-so

This was a cute version of the normal fried bean curd with prawn... and it came with it's own dish of mayo...

Prawn Dumpling (Har Kow)

Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai)

I have no idea what this is (Upon inspection, it revealed pork and corn)

Scallop Rice Noodle? - I have no idea what it is in English... "Tai Chi Cheong Fun"

Family Affair

Today is probably the first post in a long time with no pictures.

Church was business as usual, although sitting at St.Mary's Chapel had me watching all the other Catholics go about their prayers. I can't believe the number of candles each person uses. Catholics have got to be the highest number of candle users out there.

Watching the wax splash across the floor was fascinating. Needless to say, I was not paying attention to the mass.

The Boy ushered me out right after Communion into the cold. I assumed he thought we might be late for lunch with his Granduncle and Grandaunt. So I walked quickly to the car park to get away from the cold frosty air.

I turned around, and 'lo and behold, the Boy had walked on ahead of me to Melbourne Central, laughing silently at my presumption. I caught up with him and was treated with Double Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies from Mr. Amos. How could I be angry?

Lunch was to be at Doncaster at the Golden Dragon Palace. Sounded spectacular, and I didn't have much expectations for the yumcha as I've been to many that have claimed to be good here in Melbourne.

Boy was I amazed!!! I don't really want to talk it up as I don't want there to be a crowd the next time I stop by. However, credit has to be given where credit is due.
They have the best "Wu Kok" (Deep fried crispy yam pork dumplings) that I've had in a very long time.

I was ecstatic.

Unplanned trips to Westfield Doncaster and Chadstone (for Myer's best sale ever. I have to admit, the sales were as good as the 1st year of uni. It has been a looong time! Go Economic Crisis!!!) had to be the icing on the cake. Or so I thought to myself.

A further grocery shopping trip and first encounter with a new Japanese Cafe in our little shopping street, Shyun (Carnegie) had us eating the best Takoyaki (Octopus Dumpling) in a long time.

I love long weekends!!!
