Nicosia Turkish Restaurant @ Glenferrie Road - Malvern
This is as usual, a tad late... we were strolling up and down Glenferrie Road on Easter Sunday...
Looking for a Greek Restaurant, we somehow found a Turkish Restaurant...Nicosia Turkish Restaurant
It was cosy... and they had a wide array of items on their menu's...
A bit of research on trusty 'ol Google revealed that it had recently undergone some changes, and used to be known as Nicosia Kebab House...
Their menu also included a brief introduction and history to Nicosia.
We started our meal with a choice of 3 dips of our choice $12
Tarama (the pink one - caviar mixed with onions, lemon and olive oil)
Hummus (tahini, chick peas, lemon and herbs)
Tahini (sesame seeds mixed with yoghurt, lemon and herbs)
The delicious Turkish bread that came along with our dips...
And of course I have to have Dolma $9
Described on the menu as a "Mouth watering combination of delicately spiced rice & minced lamb wrapped in vine leaves served hot with tomato and yoghurt sauce", it was a bit bigger than I thought... and not as delicious as I've previously had in Almazett(although that was Lebanese, you know what they say, "Same same but different")
We also had Bulgur Kofte $12.50
Which is a traditional Cypriot kofte made of cracked wheat filled with minced lamb, onion, parsley and herbs.
We thought it tasted a bit like a cinnamon donut with meat... interesting... in a good way...
For our mains, we went with a Mixed Sis (Entree $13.50 Main $16), which consisted of marinated lamb & chicken skewers char grilled with mushrooms and served with lemon and rice (or vegies)
Chicken Doner $13.50
This was our other main, which was marinated chicken combined cooked on the spit and served with tomato, herb sauce, rice and salad
All in all, a very satisfying dish... and we will definitely make a come back ^_^
