Namaskar India @ Glenferrie Road, Malvern
This time, we were still on Indian food high, so we decided to drop by Namaskar in Malvern at night.
Namaskar is the original restaurant, before they branched out to Namaste as well.
Please see Namaste Part I and Namaste Part II
The whole night, we were watching and listening to Bollywood MTV on the LCD tv behind... fun to see Shah Rukh Khan in his muscly glory in the videos'...
As we were here for dinner... the place was packed!!... We got sent upstairs.. where there were only 1 other group of people there...
Service was extremely slow.. (THE whole dinner took about 2 hours!!)
I had a really spicy lamb dish... I can't remember what it was called.. but the gravy/curry tasted of spinach and mushrooms amongst other things.
I'm not sure because this isn't on their online menu (which Namaste follows), Namaskar has a bigger extended menu.
Also... not too sure if it was meant to be like that, but it was a bit more watery than their curries which I've tried in Namaste.
I again had the butter naan... (better in Namaste)
The Boy had chicken murtarbak (which he said was good) and he was sweating throughout the dinner (he's useless with spicy dishes)...
He also ordered Roti Telur, and I had my Mint Naan
To be honest, I'm not too sure why, this being the original restaurant and all, I found the quality of the food and the service of the place a bit disappointing.
Overall Food Rating: 7.5/10
Restaurant ambiance: 9/10 (much bigger than Namaste and fun Bollywood MTV for upstairs whilst we wait hungrily to be served)
Value for money: 8/10
